Don't you just hate it when teenage witches hit you in the morning before you're even awake with stories that you just have to tell when you're busy trying to finish Evil Fic?

"So what's been happening with Ms. Calendar?" I asked, gathering up my books and glancing at Ms. Calendar, who was moping her way out of the room, and then at Willow. "She's been really bumming lately." I didn't think it was post-love spell embarrassment. I mean, I cast it and I got over the embarrassment a while ago. Mostly. Unless Xander was anywhere near me, like within ten feet.

"I...I don't know what you're talking about," Willow said, not quite looking at me. Liar. Willow's such the teacher's pet when it comes to Ms. Calendar and Mr. Giles.

"Oh, come on," I said. "Look, I don't know everything that's going on--" Mostly because I don't choose to scry; they deserve their privacy. "--but this school is full of weird stuff, and you guys are mixed up in the middle of it." What, did they think I was going to conveniently forget that Mom wore my body for a couple of months, or that I accidentally cast a huge, monster of a love spell on Xander?

"Uh, no," said Willow, looking around, probably for Buffy. "There's no weird stuff." Nice try, Willow Rosenberg.

I raised one eyebrow and gave Willow one of my best "You've got to be kidding." looks, just like the one I gave her when she told me that she hadn't eaten the last double-chocolate mocha fudge brownie the last time we got together. Hey, my looks are good for all occasions, supernatural or not. "Yeah, nothing weird. Like it was wild dogs that ate Principal Flutie, and just something in the water that made me think that Mom came back--" I shuddered. Wow, that day sucked big time. "Or during the talent show, or *especially* the night of the prom."

"The night of the prom?" Go a couple octaves higher, would you, Willow? Buffy and Xander were late meeting her, I bet, so she had to deal with me being nosy. "What do you mean?"

"Oh, come on, Willow. I was sitting in the corner with one of the worst backlash-headaches I've *ever* had, and you and the Spook Squad--which suddenly started to include *Cordelia* *Chase*--walk in, filthy and bloody, and with some guy that gives me the severe wiggins, and later on we hear the library got "vandalized." Something happened that night."

"Nothing happened," Willow said, looking more panicky. Wow--whatever she was involved in was big.

"If you say so, Willow," I told her, which calmed her down a bit. "Just remember that I've known you your entire life. I know when you're lying."

"Buffy! Xander!" Willow fled, leaving me to roll my eyes and walk off home.

A few days later, I was gathering supplies and skipping class. Curiosity killed the cat, but it sure as hell wasn't going to kill me. Not like it had killed Ms. Calendar. "I could've helped," I muttered. Maybe no one would have died. I had to find out what happened.

Luckily, I can raise a ghost with the best of them.

Ed: Yes, she did end it there! However, if harassed enough, she might continue it....
