The Girardi children pass maturity between them like a volleyball, bouncing from hand to hand.

bounce

Joan clings doggedly to Judith, pulling her back from the brink even as she struggles to fall.

bounce

Kevin finds words for Aunt Olive, mining strength from his legacy of pain and bitterness.

bounce

Luke, for once, abandons words, his silence and his love the only gifts he can offer Grace.

bounce

As one falters, another leaps, slapping the ball back into the sky. They chase each other through life, lunging, falling and flying in the awkward game of growing up.
